Man City vs Barcelona
|
Manchester City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy, Fernando, Milner, Nasri, Silva, Dzeko, Aguero
Substitutes: Caballero, Sagna, Mangala, Fernandinho, Lampard, Navas, Bony
Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen, Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba, Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta, Neymar, Suarez, Messi
Substitutes: Bravo, Adriano, Mathieu, Xavi, Pedro, Rafinha, Sergi Roberto
I think City will beat them and I think Suarez made a big mistake going there like Zlatan did.

I dunno, Zinedine Zidane could have played with ten raspberry ripples all season, and he still would have picked up a Ballon d'Or

I agree that the quality of your teammates helps to determine how well an individual plays, but I still think it's possible to make a judgement about the best individual. However, this requires people to actually watch matches instead of basing their judgements purely on goals, which is a mistake voters of the Ballon d'Or seem to make all too often.

Seem to remember mentioning Rakitic way back in 2007. saying we should sign this young Croatian talent.

That Rakitic is superb,
He and Modric must be a joy to watch for Croatia.

Agreed.
Hardly a coincidence that with Xavi & Iniesta at their peak, Messi won 4 in a row; and since Real Madrid have had the best central midfielders, Ronald0 has won the last two.
I may or may not have been a central midfielder.

No place for individual accolades in a team sport? I don't really understand that. Surely the beauty of team sports is the interplay between the individual and the collective.

Ballon d'Or has no place in a team sport A real Champion would refuse it
Or accept it and melt it down into 25 small ones for each squad member

The final 10 seconds was ridiculous but the preceding 90 minutes (particularly the first 45) was brilliant.
If he keeps his current level of performance up, Penaldo has no hope of another Ballon d'Or.

Pre modern football fans are too into disney characters , Star Wars, lakeside, and drinking half pints in moody Irish bars to know what's going on these days. Still insist their opinion is right though.

SOLD, It was fucking laughable, and in the QF of the italia 90.
Apparently his arse completely went as he stepped up, as he'd missed a penalty against the same keeper for Napoli in the mickey mouse uefa.
Fair play to Diego though, he did manage to score 4 penalties and 0 outfield goals when he supposedly single handedly won the UEFA cup....and finished 3rd top scorer with less than double figures in the league.
BEST PLAYER EVER
(*because rewritten history on WHO says so....*)
